custom bespoke pillows for a lavender and grey neutral bedroom

hygge, the scandinavian word for a feeling of coziness and comfort, is certainly trending.  a winter home refresh can be both chic and cozy. denmark certainly knows something about surviving winter, and for me one of the coziest ways to refresh your home after the new year is all about getting ready for spring. finding that line between classic scandinavian hygge and fresh, clean, airy spaces is so chic.

i don’t know about you, but once the holidays are over, all i want is clean lines and cool neutral palettes. it’s the opposite of all that holiday detail and over-abundance. it may not be spring yet, but reaching for those spring trends to me can be the ultimate hygge.

confused yet? let me explain.

in this very hygge central park west bedroom, i kept the palette neutral and grey with hints of lavender. i also designed custom, bespoke pillows for the bed in neutral tones and patterns (see above), and that custom upholstered wall is the pinnacle of hygge.

this bedroom is all about light, airy, clean lines. but that doesn’t stop it from being cozy!

here are some more of my favorites:

winter hygge living room blue chic with gold accents and fresh flowers

the fresh cut flowers, the blue accents, those dramatic ombre curtains… and the fire in the fireplace. it’s so chic, and yet still very hygge.

fresh flowers bring so much life into a room—literally! and i can’t get enough of those cherry blossom branches. fresh cherry blossoms make such a bold, sculptural statement.

bedroom with blue throws and accents

this is pretty classic hygge, but it’s still light and airy. the fur throw, but in a surprising shade of blue, is as cozy as it is bright.

do i have you convinced? here’s how you can get this look for yourself!

pillows: i love to combine colors and textures, like these two textured pillows with this sequined pillow.

scent: i’m obsessed with this room spray by diptyque

floral: cherry blossom branches add so much dimension, but if you can’t find them locally take a look at these beautiful farm-fresh bouquets.

lighting: this ceramic table lamp adds so much dimension to your space.

cozy: a soft throw can be such a simple way to bring in both color and comfort.

decor: layers and texture are important in creating dimension in a space. i love the combination of this glass vase, brass vase, and charming shagreen box.

make yourself a cup of tea (or a hot toddy), curl up under a cozy throw, and have a very hygge new year!

cheers ~ darci
