what makes this project even more special is the connection we’ve nurtured, having previously collaborated on sean and catherine’s nyc pied-à-terre. with differing requirements for their primary residence, our main task was to create a furniture layout with enough seating to accommodate a crowd. in this complete renovation, our scope included:
- full-gut renovation of all bathrooms
- reface existing fireplaces and design custom surrounds
- crafting a serene and neutral color palette to create an inviting environment
- devising a purposeful floor plan for function and flow
- ensuring intentional wall space for admiring cherished artwork
- curating all new furnishings, drapery, plumbing, materials, and fixtures
- incorporating bespoke elements throughout the home

comfortable & inspiring living room
abundant natural light cascades through the sun-soaked spaces in this suburban sanctuary. in the primary living area, we artfully wove a palette of 50 shades of cream. while not quite as thrilling as a particular book, this neutral canvas, paired with sumptuous textures and exquisite brass detailing, infuses this space with a refined yet inviting ambiance.
we handpicked brand-new furnishings and positioned them with purpose, creating an environment that encourages mixing and mingling. cocktail, anyone? at the heart of it all, the magnificent marble fireplace with gorgeous grey veining takes center stage, gracefully anchoring the space.
nestled in one corner, custom-crafted built-ins proudly showcase catherine’s literary treasures. these thoughtfully designed shelves elegantly combine form and function, ensuring her books are both accessible and beautifully displayed. and when inspiration strikes, she can grab her favorite and make her way over to the sunlit window seat…

casually sophisticated eat-in kitchen
this eat-in kitchen is a seamless blend of casual comfort and luxurious elements. within this dynamic space, a custom wall-to-wall curved upholstered banquette creates an inviting area for sipping finely crafted cocktails while conversing with the home chef… all without impeding culinary artistry. win, win.
above the sleek black pedestal table is a stunning contemporary fixture that blends black and brass, infusing a touch of modern sophistication. but it doesn’t stop there…
clean, crisp white cabinetry runs seamlessly throughout the kitchen, serving as a brilliant backdrop to the stunning white quartzite countertops. but my personal favorite feature? the custom-designed wet bar. are you surprised? 😉
set apart from the rest of the kitchen, this space is adorned with warm oak cabinetry and an artistic tile striking hammered metal backsplash with an antique bronze finish, taking the kitchen to an exceptional level of functionality. in true dhny style, this area has been thoughtfully designed with an extra sink and additional storage to accommodate all the trappings of creative cocktail crafting. it’s here that catherine and sean can let their ingenious mixology skills shine.
serene & spacious primary suite
ahh… a haven of tranquility. showcasing a gentle palette of neutral creams and soothing greys, this primary bedroom exemplifies zen-like simplicity at its finest.
to infuse warmth into the otherwise neutral space, we created a stunning fireplace surround featuring warm oak millwork to add a subtle wood texture. the flanking storage units serve a dual purpose, functioning as both a cozy window seat and practical linen storage. it’s a seamless blend of function and form, wouldn’t you agree?
the custom wall-to-wall headboard features clean lines and neutral hues, offering a beautiful contrast with the charcoal window treatments behind. this space is rich and layered, providing a calming oasis perfect for catching those restful zzz’s.
in the primary ensuite, we installed a stunning tile backsplash adorned with subtle inlay brass detail that exudes sophistication. the custom-designed vanity offers ample storage and is beautifully accented by chic brass accents that blend effortlessly with the elegantly curved mirrors. finally, we selected contemporary wall sconces to cast a warm and peaceful glow, illuminating the space with serenity.
